Coventry University selects MidlandHR’s iTrent to power the next generation of HR and payroll system

Coventry University has chosen MidlandHR’s integrated HR and payroll solution iTrent, to upgrade its HR and payroll operations. iTrent will bring together data from the University’s 2,800 employees, based in the centre of Coventry, providing key benefits such as self service and web recruitment. Implementation has already begun, with the objective to be live with payroll by April 2009, with self service and e-Recruitment being implemented in the second stage of the project, and the remaining functionality being implemented thereafter.

The University has selected all iTrent’s modules, together with a package of implementation services, to upgrade from MidlandHR’s Millennium Product, which it has been using since 1993. Being a best of breed HR and payroll provider, MidlandHR’s iTrent was seen as an excellent option to address current HR issues, such as recruitment, workflow, absence and talent management

Wendy Taylor, Project Manager, from Coventry University, explains: “The University determined there was a sound business case for an improved HR and payroll system to maximise efficiency through the use of workflow and self service, and a need for excellent information on the University’s main resource, its staff.”

The University went out to tender for a fully integrated HR and payroll system, and while all of the systems which were finally shortlisted would have provided much of the required functionality, Midland HR’s iTrent system was considered the most technologically advanced, being entirely web based and with its use of effective dating.

Lawrence Knowles, managing director of Midland HR, comments: “We have had an excellent relationship with the University since they first became a customer of ours in 1993, and this was key to understanding their requirements. We are therefore delighted that we can continue to work with them, and optimise iTrent’s market leading capabilities to suit their individual requirements.”
